Type: Machine Component Repair—Steering Mechanism

Problem: While driving a piece of heavy machinery, the operator accidentally hit a curb snapping the steering shaft in two. The replacement part would take three weeks for delivery from the original equipment manufacturer.
[3" square drive section; entire length of 46"]

Solution: Metal Industries fabricated a new stub-end to attach to the exsisting shaft. The new steering mechanism was created by engineering a new stub based on the broken sample This approached saved the company more than two weeks down time and $1,500 relative to a new shaft from the manufacturer.
