Type: Machine Component Repair—Grinding Spindle Cooling Jacket

Problem:From improper coolant / water ratios as well as age of unit, the aluminum cooling jacket (10" dia., 14" long) which is used to keep the motor windings at a specific operating temperature corroded to the point that coolant was being introduced into the electrical system causing complete system failure.

Solution: Metal Industries reverse engineered the component and fabricated a new unit per sample specifications. Within a four-day turn-around time the machine was back in production saving lost revenue and considerable cost savings over the procurement of a manufacturers replacement.
